This is only my second New York Fashion Week, and I must say they make for my two favorite weeks of the year.

The first show I attended for the Spring 2011 season was Costello Tagliapietra.
Well, Jeffrey Costello and Robert Tagliapietra's latest collection gave a subdued ode to the elegance of the early 1930s. The georgette and jersey pieces came in pale shades of blue and gray, as well as nude, charcoal, deep brown, rustic gold, and an eye-catching marble print. Shoulders were either exposed, wrapped, or sharp, and most of the hemlines met just below the knee. Select dresses had an architectural scrunch effect, while others flowed in all of the right places. The duo's ongoing draping aesthetic was beautifully executed, as well as their use of AirDye technology, a printing and dyeing process that consumes approximately 86 percent less energy than that of the water-based process. Simply put: eco-chic and undoubtedly made for a lady who knows how to work the beauty of an understated look.
